Patient Information

Pathology/Radiology results:

Your doctor will let you know how to obtain your results at the time they provide the request form to you. If they have asked you to phone the practice, please phone after 11 am. Reception can let you know the results have been seen by the doctor and what the best action to take for these results. Our reception staff do not have access to your clinical record and are unable to provide you with any details of the test result. If you wish to have further details (IE your cholesterol level) please make an appointment with your doctor.

Everyone’s health is unique and there are many reasons why your doctor has chosen how to action your results. If you are concerned in any way, please make an appointment to discuss this with your doctor.

Some actions that the doctor will take, once your results have been received are:

No action/normal – Reception staff can let you know the results have been received, seen by the doctor and the doctor has indicated everything is normal or as expected.
Non urgent recall – staff will phone you to make an appointment, as this is a non-urgent appointment these will be made within 3 to 6 weeks.
Urgent recall – Staff will phone you to make an appointment within 7 days for the doctor to discuss these results with you.
Doctor to advise – the doctor would like to discuss the result with you. They may phone you to discuss these over the phone. If you phone the practice and need to speak to your doctor the staff will take a message as to not interrupt the current consultation. The doctor will call you back when they are available.

Repeat Prescriptions:

It is best you make an appointment to see your doctor for all repeat prescriptions. However if you have seen your doctor within the last 6 months, you may phone and request a repeat prescription. Each request is at the discretion of your doctor. You will be charged a $10 fee for writing a repeat prescription without being seen to cover the doctor’s time taken to complete this request. Please phone the practice on 9527 4100 with the medication and dose you require. It is the patient’s responsibility to pick up and take the prescription to the Pharmacy. The fee is payable prior to receiving the script. Please bring photo ID with you so staff can identify you to pick up your script.

Repeat Referrals:

When you make a follow up appointment with your specialist, they should let you know if you need a new referral or the existing one is still in date. GP referrals are valid for 12 months. When booking your appointment with the specialist, please ask if you require a new referral.

You can see your specialist without a GP referral, however you will not be entitled to received a Medicare rebate without a current referral.

It is illegal for doctors to back date referrals.

It is at the discretion of the doctor to authorise this request and write a referral. A $20 fee will be charged for writing each referral requested without an appointment.
