DR DAMIEN BRAY MBBS, Dip A (UK) FRACGP established Burraneer Family Practice in 1993. He trained in the Family Medicine Programme and is a fellow of the RACGP. He has completed advanced training posts in community paediatrics and geriatrics. Dr Bray is an accredited supervisor for medical students from University of Sydney and University of New South Wales and a Clinical Teaching Visitor for GP Synergy. He actively teaches medical students and GP Registrars in this practice.
Dr Bray interests are in children’s health, and men’s health and preventive medicine.
DR TORQUIL DUNCAN-BROWN BSc, MBChB, FRCGP (UK), FRACGP qualified as a doctor in the UK in 1999. Since then, he has gone on to gain extensive experience in and out of hospital medicine both in the UK and here in Australia. Being a third generation GP in his family has given him great insight into quality healthcare along with a passion for thorough family medicine. He qualified as a GP in 2004, worked as a rural GP in northern NSW (2007- 2009), was a senior doctor and medical educator in a large teaching practice in the UK (2009 – 2016) where he was also the practice lead for paediatrics, men’s health and renal medicine, and joins us from working in north eastern Victoria since 2016. He joined Burraneer Family Practice in 2019. He is passionate about general practice and the opportunity it affords for holistic cradle-to-grave care, as well as the opportunity to maintain long-lasting therapeutic relationships with his patients. Outside of medicine, Dr Duncan-Brown enjoys skiing, cycling and travelling the world with his young family
DR JESSICA DUONG MBBS, FRACGP joined the practice in 2017. She graduated from University of Adelaide and worked at Flinders Medical Centre and the Lyell McEwin Hospital before completing her GP training in rural South Australia. She worked in the beutiful Clare Valley before relocating to Sydney. Jessica’s interest is in women’s and children’s health and provides antenatal shared care with Sutherland and St George Hospitals. Jessica also works at GP Synergy teaching General Practice registrars.
DR LUCY FRANCE B.MED, Dip Obs FRACOG, FRACGP graduated in medicine in the UK and subsequently trained as a GP in Sydney, attaining the fellowship of the RACGP. Her other postgraduate qualifications include the Diploma of the RACOG (Obstetrics) and the NSW Family Planning Certificate. She has also completed advanced training in community paediatrics.
Dr France chaired the Shire Women’s Health Committee and co-ordinated the Shared Antenatal Care programme for Sutherland Hospital patients from 1995 – 1999 and PHN Shared Antenatal Committee. She provides shared antenatal care for patients attending the Royal Hospital for Women as well as Sutherland and St George Hospitals. She is also a member of the local regional Breastscreen Advisory Committee and the Kareena After Hours Medical Service Committee. Her other interests include dermatology, minor surgery and paediatrics.
DR MATT GABBOTT MBBS, DRANZCOG, FRACGP grew up in the local area and completed his medical studies at Sydney University in 1999. He worked at Wollongong Hospital for two years and then at St George Hospital where he completed his Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. After spending six months at Burraneer Family Practice in 2004, Matt completed the three-year general practice-training program with a placement in Port Macquarie. Matt joined the practice permanently in 2005 and his particular interests include shared antenatal care, child health, and management of skin cancer and preventative medicine.
DR LILIJANA GORRINGE BMed Sc (Hons), MBBS (Hons), MPH, DCH, Dip O&G, FRACGP graduated from the University of Sydney in 2002. She trained in many Sydney and country hospitals and joined the practice in 2010. Her particular interests include Women’s medicine and Shared care and looking after children. In 2009 she completed her Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology as well as Diploma in Child Health. She teaches medical students at the University of Syndey and work in Emergency.
DR MARISA MAGIROS B.Med Sc (Hons) MBBS (Hons), DCH, FRACGP graduated from Sydney University in 1996 with Bachelor of Medical Science (Hons),then in 2000 with MBBS (Hons). Dr Magiros worked in Orange and then overseas for 5 years including cruise ships. Dr Magiros gained her fellowship in Family Medicine in 2011. She also has a DCH (Diploma in Chlidren’s Health) and a Certificate in Sexual and Reproductive Health. Dr Magiros currently works as a Medical Educator at GP Synergy, St George After Hours and Family Planning Association at Ashfield.
Dr Magiros’ intersts are in Womens and Children’s health, travel medicine and teaching.
DR KYLIE PARTLIN MBBS (Hons) BSc (Hlth and SpSc Hons) FRACGP joined the practice in 2013. She initially completed a degree in Exercise Physiology at UNSW before completing her Medicine degree at Sydney University. Kylie worked at Bankstown, Campbelltown and Bowral Hospitals before starting her GP training. She obtained her fellowship with the RACGP in 2014. Her interests include preventative medicine, mental health, antenatal shared care and children’s health.
DR KARA PETERSEN MBBS, BSc, FRACGP, Dip Obs (RACOG) joined our practice in 1998. She graduated from the University of NSW in 1988 and has subsequently trained in Sydney, Newcastle and Wagga Wagga. Kara also spent 2 years based at the Royal Flying Doctors Service in Mount Isa. Her postgraduate qualifications include the Family Planning Certificate (NSW), the Diploma of Obstetrics, and the fellowship of the RACGP. Dr Petersen’s current interests include preventative medicine, women’s health and antenatal care.
DR MELLISA RIDDLE BA, MBBS, FRACGP has been with the practice since 1994. She graduated from Sydney University in 1986 and has worked at RPA Hospital, King George V Women’s Hospital, Sutherland and Calvary Hospitals. She trained for General Practice via the four years “Family Medicine Programme” of the RACGP. She achieved the fellowship of the RACGP in 1993. Dr Riddle is a GP Preceptor at the University of New South Wales and teaches medical students at this practice. She also holds the Family Planning Certificate of NSW.
Dr Riddle has extensive experience in women’s health and provides shared antenatal care with Sutherland and St George Hospitals and the Royal Hospital for Women. Her other interests include minor surgery, Paediatrics and Medicine in general. She has worked in palliative care and travel medicine.
DR DAVID THOMAS MBBS, B PHARM, BSc (Hons), FRACGP joined us in 2004. He has a background in pharmacy and has completed training as a country GP. His range of skills brings a welcome addition to our team of doctor’s. He has a particular talent in caring for our aged patients and enjoys seeing children.
Julie Grant grew up in the Sutherland Shire.
She graduated from Sydney University in 1998 and completed a graduate diploma in Critical Care in 2001.
Julie has worked at both the Prince of Wales and Sutherland Hospitals in a variety of settings including general wards, ICU, anaesthetics/theatre, Hospital in the Home and Post Acute care services. She has also worked in Aged Care for a number of years at a local nursing home.
Julie began practice nursing in 2010. She is an accredited nurse immuniser and has her certificate in Well Women’s Screening.
Julie enjoys all aspects of her role including children, women’s’ health, aged care and preventative medicine, as well as assisting with minor surgery.
Julie is dedicated to patient care, reflected by her commitment to ongoing education.
Judy Rawlinson joined our practice in August 2013. Judy grew up in the Sutherland Shire, graduating from Sydney Unversityin 1989.
Judy has extensive experience in the paediatric field, working in various nursing roles throughout Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick for 18 years.
Judy started in the role of practice Nurse in 2011. She is an accredited nurse immuniser and Community Diabetes Facilitator.
Judy enjoys the variety of nursing care and patient contact and is committed to ongoing education and training.
CHILDCARE NURSE Jenny Scales joined the practice in 2013. Jenny graduated as a Tresillian Mothercraft nurse in 1984 and initially worked for many years in nurseries (0-2 years) within the long day care sector. She completed her Workplace Cert IV (1994) and became a qualified trainer in Child Care. Jenny was employed for 6 years at Sutherland Family Support Services working as a nurse assisting “at risk” mothers and babies. There she also gained a qualification as a “Triple P” facilitator (Positive Parenting Program) enabling her to educate parents and grandparents in appropriate parenting strategies for ages 0-5 years. She also worked voluntarily fro the Sutherland Shire Post-natal Depression Group. Jenny has worked as a clinic nurse within the Sutherland Shire for 7 years assisting parents for 0-2 year olds in such areas as feeding, settling, sleeping, physical and emotional development. SHe has raised 3 children of her won and is passionate about her role in providing support for the entire family unit and continues to keep updated with any relevant information which will benefit the well being of mother and child.
